We specialise in military history, and in particular, Australian military history. Our stock comprises mainly quality secondhand books covering a broad military spectrum, but we also have a growing selection of new Australian titles. We also stock secondhand books in a number of areas including general fiction, crime and sci-fi, children's books, Australiana, civil aviation, maritime, art, history, Aboriginal Australia, sport and fiction, all with an emphasis on Australia. Because of limited time, not all of our inventory is listed on our website, so if you are after something in particular please let us know and we can check the shelves. We keep wants lists, but only for military titles. |

We are great readers ourselves. David is particularly fond of dark crime, "boys own" World War II aviation stories, fishing books (a section sadly lacking in our inventory because everything of interest finds itself on David's shelves!) and submarine stories. Kristen also enjoys crime, but is more interested in reading about the experiences of women in war, and particularly POW and internee experiences, the British and Australian home fronts during WWII and WWII fighter pilots. |
| When not relaxing with a good book, we enjoy good Australian wine, the company of friends, good films (and this includes anything from our cult sci-fi video collection, including "Dr Who", "Stargate", "Blake's Seven" and "Lost in Space") and indulging in cake, particularly at afternoon tea time. Kristen thinks she is a good cake cook, and although some creations would be a food stylist's nightmare, they are pretty scrummy. Current favourites include her mother's Christmas cake (made with a bottle of port), Jennifer's secret chocolate cake and/or carrot cake, sherry fruit cake, cherry sherry sultana cake, sherry prune cake and fudge brownies. The list continues, but we don't want to scare off calorie counters, or those who may be concerned that we have a serious alcohol problem ! | ![]() |

We are the significant others of Tigi, the green-eyed bewhiskered beauty on the home page. Tigi is 15, thinks she is a kitten and holds a warm spot in our hearts (and on our bed, right where you want to put your feet). Tigi also likes books: but only to sit on, and knock over if they are piled on the floor. She can often be found in Kristen's home office "helping" and ensuring that the printer guy is kept in business! Alas, Tigi will not be helping at the Mawson shop as she will be too busy minding the house. |
| We live in Canberra, the capital of Australia and when we are not working or shoving Tigi off the bed, we enjoy the many attractions of the nation's capital including afternoon tea at the Hyatt (we really do enjoy our afternoon tea!), spring and autumn walks around the lake, visiting local wineries, the many markets, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Gallery of Australia. We love living in Canberra, and it is really worth a visit! | ![]() |
